Pharisäer Kaffee
This German-based coffee is like Irish Coffee but instead of whiskey, it’s replaced with rum. Similarly sweet but with less of a bite than an Irish Coffee, the German take on this drink is just as delicious, decadent, and creamy as the Irish version.
Ingredients
- 4 oz strong coffee We recommended Barbed Wire
- 2 teaspoons sugar
- 1 ½ oz dark rum
- 2 tablespoons whipped cream
Recipe
- Combine coffee and rum
- Top with whipped cream
- Traditionally, you don’t mix the cream with the drink!

Irish Cream
Another classic coffee-based mixed drink, the Irish coffee is a staple of St. Patrick’s Day menus all over. However, there have been similar coffee-liquor drinks throughout Europe that pre-date the Irish coffee by at least 100 years. Disregarding that, Irish Coffee is a simple, sweet, and delicious mixed drink even when it isn’t St. Patty’s Day.
Ingredients
- 6 oz brewed Irish Elegance coffee
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1 ½ oz Jameson or similar Irish whiskey
- Sweetened whipped cream or make your own with 2 cans of evaporated milk & 1 can of sweetened condensed milk.
Recipe
- Brew coffee using your favorite brew method
- Add coffee to the glass, leaving about an inch for whipped cream, added sugar and whiskey stirring until sugar is dissolved
- Add the whipped cream to the drink

Espresso Martini
A classic coffee cocktail that is both strong and sweet, combining the best parts of dessert, liquor, and an after-dinner coffee into one delicious concoction. Though some may not be considered a true martini, it is served in a traditional martini glass makes it a martini in our view. We recommend our Barbed Wire coffee for this very special martini.
Ingredients
- 2 oz vodka
- ¾ oz Kahlua
- 1 oz espresso
- Coffee bean, for garnish
Recipe
- Brew espresso
- Add vodka, Kahlua, and espresso into a cocktail shaker, fill with ice and shake until cold
- Strain into a cocktail glass, garnish with 1-2 roasted coffee beans

Stories Over Morning Coffee
When daddy went to heaven this year, on February 20, I received this beautiful coffee shrub. It is so special to me because of what it represents.
My daddy & I always shared our love of coffee and who had ‘the best cup’. I used to laugh at him and give him trouble, because when I was a flight attendant and he and momma would ‘winter’ in Hawaii, I would visit them often…. Every morning, I would head to Starbucks and daddy would get his coffee at McDonald’s and join me outside at Starbucks. When I wasn’t there to join him, he would do the same thing….. I said ‘you can’t buy your coffee at McDonalds and sit at Starbucks’! He said, ’Well, I guess I can, because, I do’ ???. So many stories over our morning coffee ☕️ ❤️.
As many of you know, I started my own business 2 years ago, and I found my passion again, after living my dream of being a flight attendant. Daddy was so proud of me! (Which made it all the sweeter) Coffee!!!! I am roasting my own coffee ☕️. Every morning he would drink his favorite blend and say…. ‘That is THE best coffee, I have ever had’. I packaged that one in a gold bag…. Daddy called it ‘The Gold Standard’ and he loved yellow roses, so, the label reads ‘Daddy’s Gold Standard ‘ with a yellow rose.
Momma and I have since become passionate about our flowers and plants that we were given for daddy’s funeral. A newfound passion that she & I share (who knew). She still drinks her hot tea, and tells me how good my coffee smells ?. I’m so thankful for this time momma and I have had together and the sweet memories we have made. I’m so grateful for my husband and the sacrifices he makes to give me this precious time with her ❤️. God is so good! S
o, this morning, I lift my cup to you, daddy! Thank you for believing in me & sharing in the passion & excitement of roasting coffee to bring friends and families together and making special memories. I often think as I am roasting…. I wonder who will be drinking this coffee & making memories ❤️. Good morning friends! Hope you are enjoying your coffee with those you love! ☕️

Introducing the Champagne of Coffee
What makes Jamaican Blue Mountain so special? Did you know that only 0.1% of the world’s coffee makes up Jamaican Blue Mountain?? It’s true! It is the champagne of the coffee beans! Each bean is checked for quality before being shipped to us. The growing conditions on the Blue Mountain farms also create a sought after, well-known, high quality coffee bean with the highest altitude and greater tree coverage. This tree coverage allows for the coffee beans to mature longer increasing the strength and pervasiveness of the rich flavors.
Our sun-dried Jamaican roast has many wonderful qualities, including a certain, appealing brightness to its taste. The coffee beans carry sweet, complex undertones of chocolate and fruit that are accompanied by a wonderful nuttiness and a lingering, pleasant aftertaste that will make you want to take another sip of your delicious coffee. The medium roast has a creamy, smooth texture with a lovely aroma and perfectly balanced body. It is the perfect pick-me-up at any time of the day!
I would suggest using a French Press or pour over, as both allow adequate steeping time to draw out the flavors, while not increasing the acidity. Remember to pay attention to grind size before brewing, since the wrong grind size can change your entire experience.
Quick French Press Tips:
1. Use coarse grinds.
2. Heat water until it’s just boiling.
3. 2 Tbsp. ground coffee to 8 oz. water ratio
4. Steep for 4 minutes.
Quick Pour-Over tips:
1. Use Medium- coarse grinds.
2. Heat water just until boiling.
3. Pour half of the water over the grounds in a circular motion, letting it sit for 30-45 seconds before pouring the other half.100% Jamaican Blue Mountain Coffee! One of the most sought after coffees in the world!

Learning from a Master Roaster
I flew to the Island of Hawaii’ for the Kona Coffee Cultural Festival in November. While I was there, we participated in coffee farm tours and purchasing green Kona coffee beans that I roasted right there on the Oka Family Farm! I became friends with the Oka family and was fascinated with their story of four generations running the family farm. They graciously invited me to use their Ashe Fluid bed roaster to roast the beans while overlooking the Pacific Ocean! What a treat! Please enjoy watching the video below as I learn from the master roaster, Keola Oka the proper way to roast these rare and precious beans! I would also like to note that the Oka Family Farm was awarded the prestigious 50th annual Kona Coffee Cultural Festival’s “Chef’s Award” We are passionate about coffee and search to only bring our customers the creme’ de la creme’ of the coffee beans that we source from all over the world!

Jill, an Amazing Woman, Friend, Avid Equestrian
2021…. Jill, an amazing woman, friend, avid equestrian. A rough year for most of us. We lost a dear friend last week. Not only a friend but an incredibly accomplished woman. One of the artisans to my company. She was even more talented than I knew! She NEVER told me of all the many talents she possessed. One of the things I respect her for even more! Not only was she a hunter/ jumper, trail riding, horse loving, family adoring woman…. And there is so much more! A chef, funny, kind, adventurous…. I’ll try anything once, gal!
There won’t be anymore beautiful bareback rigging ‘saddles’ or hand- crafted saddle bags that she made for me. She is in a beautiful place where there is no more pain, no more suffering. She is with our Lord in heaven, where there are beautiful horses, two of mine…. Momma & Bandit, and I know she is riding them and loving on them in the most vibrant green pastures!
Thank you, Jill for always being kind when I was ignorant of your knowledge of horses! Happy trails, beautiful woman! Happy trails! Until we meet again!

Not a Hallmark Movie
Aren’t we all a bit nostalgic? I love small towns, mine is Whitehouse, Texas. Do you ever miss the ‘old days’ of small towns where everyone knows your name? I do too!
Tonight we enjoyed “Christmas in the Park” in Whitehouse, Texas. Going back into the past of small town gatherings. Christmas Parade with floats representing FFA Old time Farmall tractors that were refurbished like the one my grandfather owned, which had been painstakingly refurbished by my daddy.
Church floats with Nativity is what Christmas is all about! Pom Pon Squads doing their routines. And of course, Fire Trucks with Santa waving at the crowd, with the finale of the lighting of the Christmas tree in the park. A Christmas movie on the big screen, like the old time drive in movies.
It felt good to have some normalcy and joy remembering the reason for the season. It has been a rough year, 2020, and I think everyone enjoyed the way life was before COVID.
Cowgirl Elegance had a successful evening! Booths in the park filled with vendors selling their wares. It gave me excitement about Christmas and the gathering of families and making memories!
What is your favorite Christmas memory?
Until we meet again….
Keep your boots in the stirrups and have a blessed day!
